Baleswar: Police today arrested three persons in connection with the gang rape of a woman at Sainpada village under Raibania Police limits in this district in Odisha.
As per reports, the woman, who hails from a village under Jaleswar Police limits had gone to Saipada under Raibania Police limits in the afternoon on 17 January to collect her wage. She was accompanied by a male aide. When the two were returning to their village in a bicycle, five youths blocked their way at a deserted place and frightened them.
To get rid of the youths the victim and her male aide abandoned the bicycle and tried to run from the scene. However, though the male aide managed to flee, the youths caught hold of the woman and allegedly raped her one after one in a nearby bamboo bush. After committing the crime, they even intimidated the victim not to tell anybody about the crime.
Initially the woman did not revealed about the happening out of fear. However, as her male aide later told about it in the village, she went to Raibania Police Station and lodged an FIR with the help of the villagers.
Acting upon the complaint Police launched a manhunt and arrested 3 persons. More investigation is going on in this case.
