Restoration Work Of Railway Tracks In Rayagada Likely To Be Completed By Friday Morning

Rayagada: Restoration work on railway tracks between Doikalu and Ambodala in the district has been affected due to heavy rains.

Massive floods and rain in Rayagada area have resulted in tracks getting badly damaged and bottom soil/ballast getting washed out in section between Doikalu and Ambodala.

As a result of which Railways have cancelled/diverted a large number of passenger and express trains running on this route.

However, railway officials said that one line is likely to resume service by Thursday evening while the other line is likely to be ready by Friday early morning.

“We are planning to run a few goods train on the newly laid/repaired stretch so that the track settles down. Passenger trains will be allowed to run only after the track is settled,’ said a Railway official.

Divisional Railway Manager, Sambalpur, Jayadeep Gupta has camped at the site to oversee all restoration work. Besides emergency control rooms are still operating in Sambalpur and Bhubaneswar.

“Railway engineers have been working round the clock. We will continue round the clock vigil for any flooding on tracks or sudden rise in water levels near bridges,” added the Railway official.
