Rath Yatra Celebrated at Shrivani Khetra of KISS in Bhubaneswar

The special feature of Ghosayatra here is that, Devadalan, the chariot of Goddess Subhadra is pulled by only women

Bhubaneswar: The world famous auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra was celebrated at Shrivani khetra of KISS on 4th July 2019 amid religious fervour and gaiety.

More than 50 thousand devotees participated in pulling the three decorated chariots of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra being carried on three colourful wooden chariots, festooned with flowers, appliqué and mural paintings.

The Pahandi and other rituals like Mangala Arati, Mailama, Tadapalagi, Rosha Homa, Abakasha, Surya Puja, Chariots inauguration, etc followed by the procession of the deities from the temple sanctum to the chariots began in the morning as per the ethics and rituals of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagganath Temple of Puri.

Thousands of devotees gathered to pull the three chariots in the afternoon after Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS performed the holy ritual of Chherapahanra, the ceremonial sweeping of the Chariots.

The special feature of Ghosayatra at the Shrivani Khetra is that Devadalan, the chariot of Goddess Subhadra is pulled by only females.

A colourful atmosphere is witnessed near the Gundicha temple as a number of temporary kiosks, food stalls and mina bazar Fun Park have been installed.

During this nine-day festival, Bhajan Samaroh will be organized every evening near the Gundicha temple. Devotees from the nearby localities pay a visit to the Gundicha temple and to have a glimpse of the three Lords.
