Puri Jagannath Temple chullah vandalization: Suspect identified in CCTV footage detained

Puri: Puri district police have detained the suspect identified in the footage of the CCTV cameras installed at the rosaghara inside the Shri Jagannatha Temple. Police have detained him suspecting his role in the vandalization of the earthen ovens (chulhas) of rosaghara.

Taking to its Twitter handle, Puri Police said, “Temple Rosaghara Case- The suspect identified in CCTV footage has just now been detained. Further interrogation is underway.”

The district police swung into action following reports of vandalization of more than 60 Pithapuri, Kothabhoga, Satapuri and Thadapuri earthen ovens (chulhas) inside the Jagannath Temple’s kitchen, known as the Rosaghara, were vandalised by some unknown persons late on Saturday night.

After the incident created resentment among the devotees, Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra and DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal visited the temple to take stock of the situation and assured to look into the matter.
