Bhubaneswar: As many as six kilograms of pangolin scales have been seized on Nuapada-Padmapur road and a smuggler has been arrested in this connection.
The wildlife criminal has been identified Bikram Majhi.
Acting on a tip-off regarding dealing or possession of wildlife products by wildlife criminals, a team of STF conducted a raid with the help of Khariar Forest Officials on Wednesday and seized a huge quantity of pangolin scales.
The accused person could not produce any authority in support of the possession of such Pangolin scales, for which he has been detained for necessary legal action.
A special drive against the wildlife criminals/poachers is continuing.
