Paralakhemundi: In a tragic road mishap, over 20 passengers sustained injuries and two among them turned critical later as a passengers bus carrying them skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge near Marlaba Ghati under Serang police limits in Gajapati district on Friday.
The injured persons have been identified as the driver of the bus and a student of JITM College of Paralakhemundi.
As per the report, the bus was en-route to Paralakhemundi from state capital Bhubaneswar when the mishap took place in the morning. It is suspected that the driver lost control over the wheels casing the bus skid off the road to face the accident.
All the injured who remained trapped in the mangled bus were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital and the critical among them were later shifted to Paralakhemundi hospital.
Police have seized the mangled bus and started an investigation into the crash.
