Oil tanker catches fire on bridge in Nayagarh, 4 killed

Nayagarh: In a tragic incident, as many as four people have lost their lives as an oil tanker exploded and caught fire on Badapandusara bridge under Itamati police limits in Nayagarh late on Friday night.

The deceased people have been identified as Bari, Sameer, Raghu and Deepak of Sanapandusara village.

Reportedly, the oil tanker was en-route to Nayagarh from Paradip when it suddenly caught fire on Badapandusara bridge at around 2 am.

As a result, two of them were charred to death inside the vehicle whereas the bodies of two others were rushed to a nearby hospital in Nayagarh.

On getting the information, the local fire fighters arrived at the spot and took control over the blaze. The have also began to rescue the body out of the vehicle that has skid off from the bridge.

The cause behind the fire mishap is yet to be ascertained. The police has initiated a probe into the matter.
