Odisha’s Similipal National Park closed for indefinite period

Mayurbhanj: The Similipal National Park in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha was closed for tourists for indefinite period, informed Similipal National Park Deputy Director Sai Kiran D.N.

Reportedly, the national park will remain closed from today, November 15, till further order due to unseasonal rain and foggy weather condition.

The National Park in Mayurbhanj had reopened for tourists following Covid-19 protocols from November 1 as it was closed since May 2021 due to rise in Covid cases across the State.

The Similipal National Park, located in northern Odisha, is spread over 2750 sq-km, famous for its flawless beauty due to its variety of plants and animal, which attracts tourists.

It is to be noted that a thick layer of fog engulfed the state on Monday morning. The visibility was reduced due to which the vehicular movement was affected as the visibility of roads was very poor.

According to the regional centre of India Meteorological Department, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Bargarh, Dhenkanal and Jharsuguda districts have been receiving light to moderate rainfall. The temperatures have continued to fall during the night.

The low pressure area on the coast of the South Andaman Sea is moving west-northwest and is active in the central Andaman Sea. It will touch the Andhra coast on November 18. As a result, in some districts of South Odisha on November 17 and November 18.
