Odisha: Students Stage Night-Long Dharna At Balasore Collector’s Office

Balasore: Students pursuing Integrated B.Ed and M.Ed courses at Fakir Mohan University in Odisha’s Balasore district staged a night-long dharna at the Collector’s office here demanding to make their course eligible for Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET).

The protesting students alleged that the district administration had assured them to address their grievance 23 days back when they took out a rally from Balasore to Loka Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar and meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in this regard.

The District Collector had reportedly assured the students to resolve their issues within three days, a protesting student said.

The students of Integrated B.Ed and M.Ed courses from across the state will intensify their protest, if the government doesn’t take necessary action at the earliest in connection to their grievance, another student said.

While applying for Odisha Teacher Eligibility test, Central Teacher Eligibility test and the Odisha Secondary School Teacher Eligibility test, the students failed to get registration as the online forms do not have an option of Integrated B.Ed or M.Ed, said a protesting student.
