Odisha STF seizes elephant tusk, 2 arrested in Balangir

Balangir: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha police on Monday arrested two wildlife criminals on charges of possessing elephant tusk in Deulgudi village on the border of Balangir and Kalahandi districts.

On basis of reliable information regarding the sale of ivory and illegal possession of elephant tusk, the STF officials conducted a raid in Gudvela village in Balangir and arrested the two dealers.

The STF has interrogated the two criminals and obtained several of information regarding the illegal sale. The involvement of another youth has been learnt during the interrogation.

Both the criminals have been detained for further investigation into the illegal sale and a manhunt has been initiated to apprehend others who are involved in this case.

It is yet to be ascertained that whether the criminals are hunters or they were into this illegal business for any other purpose.
