Odisha Police To Intensify Drive Against Touts Active In Health Institutions

Cuttack: Police DG B.K.Sharma has directed concerned SPs and DCPs to launch a special drive against brokers operating in different hospitals, medical colleges, blood banks and dispensaries across the state.

The state police swung into action after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik instructed to make hospitals free of middlemen. Police so far have arrested 30 touts operating in various government-run health establishments in the state.

Police DG has directed that specific cases should be registered and middlemen cheating patients to be arrested.

Sharma has also asked concerned police to establish linkages of middlemen with others including owners of nursing homes, diagnostic centres and health officials. Sharma has asked to continue the drive on a daily basis and to submit the Situation Report every day.
