Odisha: Police Inspector Dismissed From Service On Corruption Charges

Cuttack: Nalinikanta Mohapatra, former IIC, Bissamkatak police station in Rayagada district and currently posted in Mayurbhanj has been dismissed from service.

Mohaptra has been dismissed after he was convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Jeypore last month in connection with a vigilance case. The court has awarded five years of imprisonment to Mohapatra and has also imposed Rs 50,000 fine on him.

 “Inspector Nalinikanta Mohapatra, was dismissed from service by DGP in exercise of powers conferred under article 311 (2) (b) of the constitution of India and Rule 828 read with appendix 49 (12) (c) of the Odisha Police Manual,” read an official communication by the Odisha Police.

Mohaptra during his posting at Bissamkatak had demanded Rs 10,000 from Radhakant Das – a resident of Cuttack – for settling his land dispute case.
