Odisha Police Assigns Duties For Chariot Festival At Puri

Bhubaneswar: Odisha police today assigned duties for annual chariot festival in Puri which will be observed on July 4. As per a notification senior IPS officer Sanjeeb Panda Addl. DG of Police (L&O) will remain in overall charge of the police arrangement during the Rath Yatra at Puri.

Panda will be assisted by S.K. Priyadarshi, IG of Police (central range) U.S. Das SP of Puri. Similarly Pranabindu Acharya, Addl. DG of Police (Railways and Coastal Security) will supervise the arrangements of Railways Police for the festival.

R.K. Sharma IG (Intelligence) will supervise the security and special branch arrangements while Amitabh Thakur, IG of Police (SAP) will supervise the traffic arrangements during the festival.

“S.K. Priyadarshi, IG of Police (central range) will supervise police arrangements inside the temple including liasoning with Temple Administration and Sebayat Niyoga for smooth conduct of festival (from Nabajauban Darshan till Niladri Bije). Asheet Kumar Panigrahi, IG of Police (Headquarters) will supervise the arrangements of the crowd control management during RathaYatra, Sandhya Darshan, Return Car Festival and Sunabesha,” said the notification of the Odisha Police.

Besides Arun Bothra, IG of Police (crime branch) will supervise the arrangements and crowd control within and adjacent to the cordons around the three chariots during the festival.
