Odisha Police arrests contractual employees of Cuttack SCB hospital

Cuttack: As many as five contractual employees of SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack have been arrested by Odisha Police on Tuesday, informed DCP Pinak Mishra at a press conference.

Reportedly, Mangalabag Police caught hold of them and seized Outdoor Tickets from their possession along with Rs 1,00 cash.

The five contractual employees have been deceiving patients and sending them to other private hospitals on the pretext of better treatment.

A case has been filed under sections 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). It is yet to be ascertained whether the private hospital authorities were involved in the incident.

It is pertinent to mention that on Monday a charge sheet had been filed against seven doctors of SCB Medical College & Hospital, Cuttack for allegedly assaulting a lawyer in October 2021.

Advocate Sapan Pal was attacked on October 21, 2021, when he went with one of his relatives to Cuttack SCB for medical treatment. Thereafter, he alleged that the doctors attacked him after he questioned them regarding the disorganization.

Pal lodged a complaint with the Mangalabag Police Station and later sought legal help as the cops allegedly did not take any action after his complaint.

Hence, the charge sheet had been filed against the seven doctors on the basis of CCTV footage by Mangalbag police following the order of the High Court.
