Odisha Police And NIA Conduct Training Programme On Terrorism Investigation

Bhubaneswar: Odisha police today organised a one-day capacity building training programme for police officers on ‘Investigation of terror-related cases’ in collaboration with National Investigation Agency (NIA) at Conference Hall of Police Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

Senior officers in the rank of DSP and inspectors participated in the programme. Director General (DG) of NIA Y.C Modi was the chief guest for the inaugural function.

The NIA DG talked about the worldwide menace of terrorism, the latest developments in the area and risk factors faced by India. Outlining the importance of professional and scientific investigation and thorough knowledge of laws in dealing with such cases including the UAP Act, Modi encouraged the participants to make the best use of the sessions by senior officers of NIA.

Several issues related to terror including terror funding, extradition, investigation in foreign countries and the legal regime was discussed during the programme.

Odisha Police DG B.K Sharma stressed on the need for professional investigation in prosecuting terror criminals especially left-wing extremism.
