Odisha: Over 50 BJP, Congress workers join BJD today

Bhubaneswar: Over 50 workers of Opposition BJP and Congress joined Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday.

The Congress and BJP workers of Mayurbhanj districts joined the BJD in the presence of party president and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik at his residence here.

In a statement, BJD General Secretary Bijay Nayak said, “Over 50 workers of BJP and Congress including Udala Block Chairperson Karmi Murmu joined BJD by attracting towards the transparent leadership of Naveen Patnaik and his several welfare schemes”.

Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said that the joining of Congress and BJP workers in the BJD fold will strengthen the party.

Former MLA Srinath Soren, Political secretary of BJD president Dr. Gopabandhu Das, BJD’s Mayurbhanj observer and Jajpur MLA Pranab Prakash Das and other leaders were present on the occasion.
