Odisha: IIC Of Mahakalpada Police Station Sent To Jail For Custodial Death

 Kendrapara: The then IIC of Mahakalpada police station today surrendered before a local court in connection with a custodial death in August last year.

The IIC Shyamaghana Behera was later sent to jail after his bail plea was rejected by the local court.

One Abinash Paital (25) of Balanala village was arrested by the police in August last year for allegedly stealing mobile phone. However, he was found dead in the police custody under mysterious circumstances a day after his arrest.

The body of the youth was found in a hanging state from the staircase railing of one Haladhar Mallick’s house which is located few meters from the police station.

Following the incident, Behera was placed under suspension.
