Odisha : Hirakud Dam opens three more sluice gates

Sambalpur: In view of continuous rainfall in the upper catchment area of Mahanadi River, the Hirakud dam authorities have opened three more sluice gates to release the floodwater on Friday.

Currently, the flood water is being released through five sluice gates of the reservoir.

The water level of the reservoir stood at 627.85 feet at 6 AM today, while the dam has a capacity of holding water upto 630 feet, informed Hirakud Dam officials.

Currently, the water inflow into the dam is 2,16,238 cusec while water outflow from the reservoir is 1,01,885 cusec, officials added.

The water level of Rengali dam stood at 122.74m at  6 AM today against its total capacity of 123.50m, Water Resources department said.
