Odisha govt gives compulsory retirement to 6 more officials

Bhubaneswar: As many as six more government officials have been given compulsory retirement on grounds of inefficiency and dereliction of duty.

Reportedly, the six officers given compulsory retirement include three executive engineers, a police inspector, one Additional Supply Officer, and one District Welfare Officer. Strict action has been taken against a total of 158 officials as of now.

Among the six officials, there are three executive engineers in the Public Health Engineering Cadre under the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

  1. Saroj Kumar Das’s work style was unsatisfactory, and his past record shows that he was extremely incompetent in his work. It is against the public interest to assume responsibility for a government official because of his incompetence, lack of commitment, and incompetence. Hence, he has been given compulsory retirement.
  2. Dayanidhi Samal, an executive engineer, has been given compulsory retirement as his performance is also unsatisfactory. His activities are contrary to the actions of a responsible government official and are against the public interest. He has been given compulsory retirement due to incompetence and dishonesty.
  3. Karunakar Ghadei showed undeserved kindness to one of the suppliers. His actions are unsatisfactory and there is evidence of dishonesty against him. Hence, he has been given compulsory retirement.

Apart from these three officials, the other three are as follows:

  • Angul District Police Inspector Ratnakar Mallik has been given compulsory retirement due to incompetence and dishonesty.
  • There are two corruption cases in the name of Ratnakar Sethi, Additional Supply Officer of Nuapada District. More than Rs 6.5 crore worth of property was seized from him by the Anti-Corruption Department and he was sent to jail.
  • Former welfare officer of Angul district Charulata Mallik has a case of corruption against him. As a district welfare officer, he was caught red-handed by the anti-corruption department while accepting bribes and was suspended. He has also been given compulsory retirement.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has always given emphasis on maintaining high morals and integrity in the field of public life. He has always insisted on zero-tolerance against incompetent and corrupt officials. He has continuously given efforts to provide services to the people through a transparent, efficient, and accountable administration.
