Odisha: Construction of Chariots & Chandan Jatra to begin from Akshay Trutiya tomorrow in Puri

Puri: The 21 day long Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings in the holy city of Puri in Odisha will commence tomorrow on the occasion of Akshaya Trutiya. Also, as per the tradition, the work for construction of the three chariots will begin tomorrow on Akshay Trutiya.

All preparations have been made for the ‘Bahara’ (outside) Chandan Jatra this year. Among the preparations, arrangement for the water game of the Lords, police deployment for security, traffic arrangement, drinking water arrangement, electric and health services arrangement have been made.

It is to be noted that after a gap of two years this time the famous Chandan Jatra will be held amid presence of devotees. In the last two years though the festival was carried out, many restrictions had been put in place due to the Corona pandemic.

The Narendra pond of Puri has been decked up for the Chandan Jatra while the repairing of the boats on which the idols will be made to seat, is reportedly in the last phase.

Similarly, construction of chariots for the annual Rath Yatra will begin at the Ratha Khala from Akshaya Trutiya.
