Odisha: Curfew To Be Imposed Around Narendra Pokhari For Chandan Yatra

Puri: The Chandan Yatra of Lord Jagannath is scheduled to be held in the Narendra Pokhari near the Srimandir premises.

It is noteworthy that it had been decided that this year it will be held outside but sans devotees a opposed to last year when it had been held inside the temple.

Keeping in views the above fact in mind and the recent surge of Covid cases in Odisha, the Puri District administration and SJTA have decided to impose Sec.144 around the area of Narendra Pokhari.

According to reports, all the servitors, who will take part in Chandan Yatra and Rath Anukula (construction of chariots for annual Rath Yatra) rituals shall be tested for Covid and then be kept in isolation. 

The famous Rath Yatra (Car Festival) of Lord Jagannath and his siblings shall be held on July 12 this year.
