Odisha CM flags off pilgrimage train from Balasore

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today flagged off a pilgrimage train from Balasore to Ujjain and Omkareswar under the ‘Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana.’

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today flagged off a pilgrimage train from Balasore to Ujjain and Omkareswar under the ‘Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana.’

Patnaik flagged off the train via video conferencing in the presence of Tourism Minister Aswini Kumar Patra, OTDC Chairman Lenin Mohanty, Balasore Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde, BNTYY Advisor Durga Prasad Samantaray, Additional Secretary Balamukunda Bhuyan, Assistant Director (Research) Saroj Kumar Jena were present on the occasion.

The train with 970 senior citizens from Balasore, Bhadrak, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, and Keonjhar and 30 escort officers, left Balasore and is scheduled to cover the pilgrimage centres of Ujjain and Omkareswar.

It is to be noted here that the Odisha government launched the Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana in 2016-17 with the aim to help the poor and deprived senior citizens for realization of their lifelong dream of having one Tirtha Yatra (Pilgrimage).
