Odisha CM announces Rs 25lakh ex-gratia for martyr’s kin

Bhubaneswar: Expressing deep grief over the death Odia Jawan Ajit Kumar Sahoo in a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced to provide an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund  (CMRF) to the martyr’s family.

The Chief Minister also took the Twitter route to condole the demise of Sahoo, saying “Salute to the supreme sacrifice of the brave solider; my thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family.”

Sahoo had sustained injuries in an IED blast carried out by militants at Arihal village in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday. He succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

The mortal remains of the martyr will be airlifted by a special flight from Jammu, which will reach at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here this evening at around 5 PM from where the body will be brought to his native village, officials said.

Sahoo hailed from Badasuala village under Kamakhyanagar block of Dhenkanal district. He had joined the Indian Army in 2015.
