Jharsuguda: Two persons were arrested today for allegedly raping a 17-year-old on Monday night. Police have registered a case yesterday on the basis of a complaint filed by the mother of the minor girl.
Police said that the incident took place when the victim had gone outside searching for her mother, a daily wager. “Both the accused took her to an isolated place and raped her. They also threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident,” said a police official.
However, the Childline came to know about the incident and visited the house of the victim. “We convinced her mother who lodged the police complaint with the Jharsuguda police station. Police conducted a medical examination and subsequently arrested both the accused,” said a member of the Childline.
