Odisha Chief Secy Reviews Rath Yatra Preparations, Heritage Corridor Work

Puri: Odisha Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra visited Puri on Thursday night to look into the field level progress of the works under Parikrama project and the current preparations for Rath Yatra 2022.

Reportedly, after reviewing the progress of preparations for smooth management of Ratha Yatra in a high level meeting with departmental officers at Puri on Thursday afternoon, Mahapatra discussed with Sevayats and urged them for timely completion of various Niti Puja and other preparations as per the decided schedule.

The Sevayats assured their dedicated service for making the World Famous Ratha Yatra of Mahaprabhu Jagannath in most befitting manner, added reports.

Thereafter Mahapatra along with Puri Collector Samarth Verma looked into field level progress of different under construction works under Parikrama project. He talked with field level engineers and workers directly, and sorted out the issues on path of expeditious completion

It is pertinent to mention that the Orissa High Court dismissed all Public Interest Litigations (PILs) in relation to Srimandir Heritage Corridor project. The High Court quoted the judgment of the Supreme Court and dismissed the PILs.

The Supreme Court had rejected a public interest litigation petition against construction activities around the iconic Shree Jagannath Temple premises. The Apex Court strongly deprecated the practice of filing publicity interest litigations. A bench of Justices BR Gavai and Hima Kohli stated that such petitions need to be compressed in the bud since they waste the time of the courts.
