Odisha businessman kidnapped in Jharkhand released

Odisha businessman kidnapped in Jharkhand released Bhubaneswar: City-based veterinary doctor and businessman Manas Ranjan Das, who had been kidnapped in Jharkhand in August, was released by his abductors on Tuesday.

According to Das’ wife Honey Dutta, the abductors released him somewhere on the outskirts of Patna city. He is in the safe custody of Patna police, she said.

However, the circumstances the kidnappers released Manas Ranjan is still unclear.

Confirming the development, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said Patna police officials have confirmed Das’ release.

The 41-year-old businessman, a resident of Chandrasekharpur area here, has been running a poultry feed processing unit at Hajipur in Bihar for the past 10 years. On August 17, he had left Bhubaneswar for Jharkhand where he operates the same business.

He was kidnapped while returning to Bhubaneswar in his car on August 23.
