Reportedly, State Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari will address the Assembly today.

The budget session has not been held during the usual time due to the panchayat and municipal elections this year. Hence, the interim budget will be presented today and then the full budget.

Thereafter, it will be approved in the form of a budget bill on March 31, added reports. It is expected to increase by about 18 per cent to over Rs 2 lakh crore.

Notably, the budget is also likely to focus on infrastructure, development programs, and more on state welfare programs.

Earlier on Sunday, the interim budget was approved during an important meeting of the Council of Ministers and the State Cabinet.

It is pertinent to mention that the Budget session of the Odisha Assembly for the year 2022-23 began on March 25 with an address of Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal. Governor Ganeshi Lal expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of departed souls and said “From ASHA, Anganwadi workers, to health professionals, teachers, students, farmers, entrepreneurs, the real strength of Odisha people was on full display during the pandemic.”

He also added that “Would like to reiterate in unequivocal terms that my govt is firmly committed to develop all regions of the state and empower all sections of the people and is all set to move into a transparent, technology-driven, transformed new Odisha.”
