No Policy To Scrap Vehicles Older Than 15 Years, STA

Bhubaneswar: The State Transport Authority (STA) today clarified that there is no policy to scrap more than 15 year old vehicles in the state.

The STA has advised the owners of fifteen year old non transport vehicles can renew the Registration Certificate (RC) at concerned Regional Transport Office (RTO).

STA officials said that the validity of registration of transport vehicle is valid as long as its fitness certificate is valid. STA also took the twitter to announce the same.

Earlier state Commerce and Transport minister Padmanabh Behera in his reply to a written question in the Assembly has said that 22.09 lakh vehicles, including 8.75 lakh two-wheelers, which are over 15 years old have been identified, of which 11.43 lakh are in running condition.
