New Railway Line Between Nayagarh And Mahipur Inspected

Bhubaneswar: Commissioner, Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle (Kolkata) A. K. Rai today inspected the newly laid 12 Kms long Broad Gauge Line from Nayagarh Town to Mahipur railway station of on-going 289 Kms long Khurda Road-Balangir project along with Principal Chief Engineer of East Coast Railway (ECoR), Narottam Singh Uikey.

Train services will be introduced between Nayagarh Town and Mahipur Stations suitably after it is declared fit for running of trains from CRS after inspection of safety aspects of tracks and other safety-related equipment.

Keeping in view the excitement and demands from the public and expediting the construction work of the project, Railways has constructed this line from both the ends, i.e. from Khurda Road and Balangir side for early completion of the project.

Officials of ECoR have appealed general public of the nearby areas between Nayagarh Town and Mahipur to remain alert as experimental runs of trains will continue between the two stations even after CRS inspection. “We urge the locals to keep their cattle/other animals away from the vicinity of the track to prevent any untoward incident,” said an official.

ECoR has already completed and commissioned about 80Kms of the project, i.e. 65.455Kms from Khurda Road to Nayagarh Town and 14.580Kms from Balangir to Bichhupalli. With the new line between Nayagarh Town and Mahipur, the total length of completed railway tracks has reached 92Kms.
