Rourkela: A gang of unidentified miscreants looted more than Rs 10,000 by breaking open the hundi (donation box) of Shakti Nagar Tarini temple in the city on Monday night.

Some locals who visited the temple to perform darshan this morning found the hundi vandalized and money missing from it. They immediately informed the priest, Brahamananda Mishra who reached the temple and checked the hundi. Later on a complaint was registered at Rourkela Sector 3 Police Station in connection with the loot.

However, Mishra has raised several questions over the loot and has asked how could the ATM security guards nearby not spot anyone.

“Some boulders were found near the temple donation box with which the looters might have broken it. In that case how could the security guards not hear the noise is a matter of investigation,” he opined.

Police have reached the temple and started investigation.
