Bhubaneswar: The body of a man with severe wounds was found from under the Kaukhai Bridge on the outskirts of the city on Saturday. The body was spotted with its head crushed with a stone.
The deceased has been identified as Bijay Behera of Baya Vihar in Kanasa area of Puri district.
Some locals spotted the body this morning and immediately called up the Commissionerate Police, which reached the spot and seized the dead body. Police also filed a case of unnatural death in the incident.
From the circumstantial evidences, it appears to be a case of murder and a fallout of past enmity, police said.
Some locals also feared foul play in the incident. They claimed that Bijay, who was an outsider and lived in the area and earned livelihood by fishing, had developed enmity with some other fishermen. He could have fallen victim to the rivalry, they said.
