Baliguda: In a mockery of the government’s ‘Mahaprayan’ scheme body of a poor elderly woman was taken to Baliguda Sub Divsional Hospital in Kandhamal district on Monday.
As per the report, one Sanjana Nayak of Kurtamgarh area under Tumudibandh collapsed while waiting for the bus at the Baliguda bus stand this morning. After bystanders called up her family and reported the matter they reached the spot accompanied by local police and tried to send the body to Baliguda Sub Divisional Hospital for autopsy.
Much to the dismay of the relatives of the deceased they had to load the body on a trolley and take to the hospital due to unavailability of the ‘Mahaprayan’ van, says report.
As the news spread in the locality, residents and intellectual expressed their concern over the incident as well as the failure of the ‘Mahaprayan’ scheme.
While the office of the Notified Area Council (NAC) is located very near to the bus stand, why the officials didn’t take proactive steps to make the ‘Mahaprayan’ vehicle available to the deceased’s family, the locals questioned.
