Cuttack: DCP Akhileswar Singh on Thursday suspended three police officials in connection with the attack on a lawyer by them at Nua Bazaar bridge here on Tuesday morning.
The suspended police officials have been identified as Constables BK Samal and UK Bhuyan and Havildar PK Behera.
This apart, a notice has been issued to Home Guard Kishore Samal seeking his explanation within one month following which necessary action would be taken.
Speaking to the reporters about the incident, he said, “Four cases have been lodged in connection with the incident. Inspector (Crime) is conducting an inquiry into the incident under the supervision of Additional DCP. Action would be taken if anyone found to be guilty.”
On the other hand, the High Court Bar Association today resorted to a cease-work agitation today protesting the ‘police atrocities’.
In Bhubaneswar, lawyers also staged a road blockade by burning tyres near the Khordha District and Sessions Judge Court at Kalpana Square.
