Koraput: Like other higher educational institutions, Central University of Odisha, Koraput observed the third International Yoga Day today.
The main function in the University was held at Landiguda Campus,where Vice Chancellor Prof. Sachidananda Mohanty attended as chief guest and performed Yoga with students , professors and other staff members.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mohanty said, “Yoga is a holistic approach to physical and mental health and well-being.” He urged all participants to practice yoga everyday saying that a fit mind and fit body is the abode of God.
Dr, Amulya Ranjan Mohapatra, founder of Rama Krishna Mission, Koraput, attended the event as a yoga instructor. He read his own poem ‘Yoga’, and preached about the benefit of practicing yoga. On the occasion, he also showcased various forms of yoga, including Padmasana, Vrerasana, Kapalbhati pranayam etc.
Dr. Birendra Prasad, retired Yoga instructor of Raipur Central University was also present on the occasion.
Yoga Day celebrations are taking place in more than 5,000 places across the country and 200 countries across the globe.
