Khandagiri mela underway at Khandagiri-Udaygiri in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar, watch

Bhubaneswar: The famous Khandagiri mela is going on at the Khandagiri-Udaygiri hill top in Bhubaneswar of Odisha amid presence of saints, devotees as well as visitors.

The foothills of Khandagiri-Udayagiri hills in the capital city are echoing with chanting of hymns by the saints on the occasion of the famous Magaha-Saptami mela or Magha mela. The atmosphere has turned devotional amid sound of Bhajan and sankirtan of Harinam.

The holy month of Magha commenced on Friday and since then this famous annual fair is going on in Bhubaneswar. Today, on the third day, a devotional atmosphere was created in Khandagiri-Udayagiri hilltop amid presence of crowd. Hundreds of saints have encamped in Khandagiri for this mela. Also, Parayanna, Pravachan along with Bhajan and Kirtan is going on.

From the traffic square till the Charichak we can hear ‘Buy one get one free’ as the street vendors are trying to earn good profit from the fair.

Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made arrangement for the temporary vendors. It has been noticed that they are making good profit due to the crowd.

Crowds of pilgrims started to meet the saints early in the morning. In the afternoon, the road was jammed with visitors from Khandagiri chhak to the top of the hill.

The night view of Udayagiri’s Rani Cave (Queen’s cave) and Hati Cave (elephant cave) attracts people while devotees listened to Ramcharit Manas at the Barabhuja Peetha till late night.

Similarly, the cave looks very beautiful with Khandagiri Udayagiri decorated with colorful lights.

On the other hand, the Yatra Mahasamar will be seen in Khandagiri from today. From the 18th to the 29th, that is, for 12 consecutive days, multiple actors will present their best plays of this year to the public at the yatra pandal.
