Junagarh Gang Rape; Victim Accuses Bus Driver Offering Her Lift As Mastermind

Bhawanipatna: In a major twist to the gang-rape of a girl in Jaring forest near National Highway-26 in Junagarh of the district, the victim today accused driver Lalitendra Sabar, who is an eye-witness in the police investigation as the mastermind of the incident.

The victim alleged that Sabar who had offered her a lift on the day of the incident was the first one to rape her. “While I was travelling with him his phone ranged twice. He later stopped near Banamalipur Chhak, when six youth came out of nowhere and forcibly took me into the forest. He was the first to rape me after which six others raped me,” alleged the victim.

The incident had taken place on September 14. The video which is doing rounds on various social media platforms features the accused, all with covered face, sexually assaulting the girl in an unknown place. More shockingly, the accused could be seen threatening the girl by showing sharp weapons during the act.

Police so far have arrested nine persons on charges of rape and circulating the video on social media.

On the other hand BJP, today accused the police of trying to shield Sabar due to his political links. “ Sabar drives the bus owned by the Kalahandi district BJD working president Prabodh Rath. Rath has also good rapport with the local MLA who is also a minister. Police is not arresting Sabar due to political link,” alleged BJP state secretary Lekhashree Samantsinghar.
