Anandpur: In a shocking incident a youth hacked his aunt to death on suspicion of practising witchcraft in Kantala village under Gayalmunda panchayat in Keonjhar district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Jingi Purty of the same locality.
As per the report, the accused namely Ankura Birua was suspecting Jingi of practising various methods of witchcraft to harm his family since long. After hatching a plan to eliminate his aunt the accused kept waiting at an isolated place near the village last between 8pm and 9pm.
While Jingi was returning home from a neighbour’s home Ankura attacked his head with an axe to kill her on the spot. He fled from the spot immediately after committing the crime.
After some relatives found Jingi’s body from the spot and informed police, the accused was detained from his home for interrogation.
Police have sent the body for autopsy and started an investigation into the case.
