Jr Engineer nabbed by Odisha Vigilance while accepting bribe of Rs 30,000/

Cuttack: Junior Engineer of Badamba Block in Cuttack district has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe Rs 30,000/- on Thursday.
The accused Junior Engineer has been identified as Bauribandhu Parida. He was caught by the Odisha Vigilance sleuths due to a from a Complainant (Contractor). The Junior Engineer was caught while taking bribe for passing of muster roll in connection with development work under MGNREG scheme. The entire bribe money has been recovered from accused from Parida, JE and seized the amount.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Sri Parida from DA angle. During searches so far, Rs 3 Lakhs cash has been recovered from the house of Sri Parida located at Balikuda, Cuttack seized. Also, a car (Kia) worth approx 15 lakhs and RSD documents of a plot recently purchased at approx Rs 30 lakhs have been recovered. Searches continuing.
In this connection, Vigilance Cell PS Case No 4/2023 U/s 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Parida, Jr Engineer. Detailed report follows.
Earlier in the morning hours today, there has been a vigilance raid in Odisha on a clerk in the BEO (Block Education Office) in Kendrapara district of Odisha.
The clerk of the BEO has been identified as Manas Dhala. He is working as a dealing assistant (junior clerk) in the office of the BEO (Block Education Officer), Patamundai in Kendrapara.
The said clerk has been apprehended by the Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000/- from a Complainant (Teacher) for withdrawal of his arrear salary pending for more than a year.
The entire bribe money has been recovered from the accused Dhala and seized. Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Dhala from Disproportionate Assets angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case no 9/2023 U/s 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against the accused Dhala, Jr. Clerk.
A detailed report is awaited relating to this matter.
