Bargarh: A video of mob abusing IIC of Bijepur police station in presence of other cops has become viral in the social media. Villagers of Laumunda under Bijepur police limits also allegedly manhandled the IIC Rajendra Sial alleging police inaction to trace a missing person.
Villagers said that one Supal Bhoi in April has lodged a complaint of intimidation at Bijepur police station. However, Bhoi went on missing from last week of April and his decomposed body was found hanging in a tree a few days ago.
Cops from Bijepur police station including Sial reached the village and tried to pacify the mob. However, the mob alleging police inaction abused Sial and detained him in the village. Later senior police officials including Padampur SDPOPradip Kumar Sahu reached the spot.
The mob did not spare Sial and continued to abuse him in presence of several IICs of nearby police stations and the SDPO. In the video, few villagers were also heard saying Sial to commit suicide as he was not able to perform his duty.
Police said that a case has been registered in this connection and they are trying to nab villagers who instigated the mob to humiliate the IIC in public.
