House painter held for attempting to rape University girl in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: In yet another case of crime against women, a mason has been arrested from Unit-I area in the city for allegedly attempting to rape an University student last night.

The accused has been identified as Ajay Bagh, a resident of neighbouring West Bengal State.

As per the victim, Ajay who stayed in the vicinity of a house where she was residing took her forcibly to a secluded place at around 10.30 pm and tried to sexually assault which she foiled and raised an alarm.

The accused managed to escape from the spot as some locals reached out to help the victim.

Acting upon the complaint of the victim Capital Police launched a manhunt and arrested the accused from a slum area in the same locality.
