HC bench demand: Lawyers launch cease work stir in Balangir

Balangir: Intensifying their long standing demand for setting up of a Permanent High Court bench in western Odisha, lawyers launched a cease work stir in Balangir today.

As a part of the protest, the Bar Council members staged a protest in front of district Collector’s office here and demanded immediate step on the part of the government.

While court works and legal services in the district have already been hit due to the strike, it is evident to worsen further in the coming days as the strikers have threatened to shut the courts and government offices in the district till June 20 if their demand remains unfulfilled.

Notably, the Sambalpur District Bar Association had withdrawn its stir over the demand of permanent HC bench in western Odisha on May 13 in view of the General Election-2019.
