Girl thrashed for disallowing youth to take selfie with her in Odisha

Phulbani: With no end in sight from crime against women in the State, a girl was thrashed mercilessly by a youth for opposing him take a selfie with her at Hata Bazar under Baliguda area in Kandhamal district today.

As per the report, the victim identified as Archana Digal of Kudupakia village under K. Nuagaon police limits had been to purchase a dress from Hata Bazar this morning when the incident took place.

While purchasing the dress at a shop Archana found the accused identified as Brahma Nayak of Hatapada Sahi taking a selfie with him, trickily. Fumed over the objection the accused thrashed her brutally inflicting injuries.

The victim was critically hurt after a few family members of the accused joined him in the attack subsequently.

Some women intervened in the incident and sent the girl to Baliguda Hospital for treatment.

Based on the FIR of the victim police have arrested the accused and her mother Landi Nayak and they are currently under interrogation.
