Keonjhar: In yet another incident of wild animal attack in the State, a girl sustained injuries after being mauled by a bear in Bholabeda village under Ghatagaon police limits in Keonjhar district on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Chameli Munda, daughter of Gura Munda of the same village.
Chameli had been to her farmland located on the outskirts of the village to cut paddy in the morning when the predator attack took place. An Indian sloth bear which has sneaked into the area from a nearby forest pounced on her and mauled badly.
The victim who sustained a grievous injury on her leg was rushed to Ghatagaon Community Health Centre (CHC) immediately for treatment.
The bear attack has left people in a state of panic in the village.
