Four Brokers Arrested From Capital Hospital In Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: Hours after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik instructed to make hospitals free of middlemen, four brokers were today arrested for allegedly refereeing patients to private nursing homes and diagnostic centres in lieu of commission from Capital Hospital.

The touts were arrested from the hospital after the Capital Police station conducted a surprise check at the hospital.

Police said that the accused used to get 10 to 20 percent of commission for sending patients to other nursing homes and diagnostic centres.

“The brokers used to persuade patients and attendants especially coming from far off places. We have been receiving complaints of brokers diverting patients to various private hospitals,” said a police official.
