Happy birthday Sachin Tendulkar: Know whom the master-blaster named after

The legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is celebrating his 51st birthday today. The “God of Cricket”, Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket nearly 11 years ago.

Sachin started playing cricket in Indian team at the age of 16. His first international match was against Pakistan in 1989. But do you know, whom the legendary cricketer is named after?

The father of the God of Cricket, Ramesh Tendulkar was a fan of music director, Sachin Dev Burman. He named his son after his favourite music direct, not knowing his son is going to revolve the world of sports, specifically cricket.

The legendary cricketer is the first ever player to score 100 international centuries. He has cricketing career of 18,426 runs in One Day International, and 15,921 runs in Test. Of his 100 international centuries, 51 came in Tests and 49 in ODIs. His record was broken by Virat Kohli after he become first batsman to score 50 centuries in ODIs.

Notably, Sachin quit playing ODI cricket in 2012 and a year later in November 2013, he tool retirement from all forms of cricket after playing his 200th Test.

The master blaster has played 664 international cricket match and made 34,357 runs at the world stage. The fan base of Sachin is huge and along with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, he is one of the most loved cricketer of India.
