Bhubaneswar: Congress president Sonia Gandhi today approved the name of Dillip Kumar Panda as the candidate of the party for Bijepur bypoll.
The ECI on Monday has issued notification for the bypoll to Bijepur Assembly which will be held on October 21. The last date for filing nomination papers is September 30, while scrutiny of nomination papers will be held on October 1 and counting of votes will be held on October 24.
Earlier the state unit of the national party has shortlisted five candidates for the bypoll which was necessitated after chief minister Naveen Patnaik vacated the seat and retained Hinjili constituency.
