Bhubaneswar: Veteran Congress leader and former Digapahandi NAC Chairman V. Rabi Narayan Raju joined the ruling Binju Janata Dal (BJD) on Tuesday.
Raju along with his hundreds of supporters joined BJD at Naveen Niwas here in the presence of party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
Speaking to mediapersons, Raju said, “I took the decision to join BJD for the benefit of people in Digapahandi region of Ganjam District” adding that he will discharge whatever responsibility assigned to him by BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik.
In 2009 general elections, Raju contested from Digapahandi Assembly segment on a Congress ticket.
