Financial Consultant convicted, sentenced to rigorous imprisonment in vigilance trap case
Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar today convicted Laxminarayan Satapathy, the Financial Consultant of the office of DPC, SSA in Rayagada and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment in vigilance trap case.
Bhubaneswar: Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar today convicted Laxminarayan Satapathy, the Financial Consultant of the office of DPC, SSA in Rayagada and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment in vigilance trap case.
The court sentenced Satapathy to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 2 years and 3 years U/s 7 and 13(2) PC Act, 1988 respectively and to pay fine of Rs 5,000 on each count, and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for 3 months.
Both the sentences are to run concurrently. Further, the convict Laxminarayan Satapathy was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence.
Laxminarayan Satapathy and Jayanarayan Trailokya Nath, the Planning Coordinator (Disengaged from Service) both of office of District Project Co-ordinator (DPC), Sarba Sikhya Abhijan (SSA), Rayagada, who were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance in a case vide Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar TR No 49/2013 U/s 13(2)r/w13 (1)(d)/7/11/PC Act, 1988/120(B) IPC for demand and acceptance of bribe Rs 10,000 from a Complainant for issue of cheques against two numbers of bills submitted by complainant after execution of the work and for his EMD amount and TDS, were convicted by the court on 02.12.2023.
On the date of judgment i.e. on 02.12.2023, one of the convicts Laxminarayan Satapathy was absent on call for which NBW/A was issued for his production.
Anupama Mohapatra, Ex-Inspector Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division, A/P-DSP, Special Cell, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar had investigated the case and Hemanta Kumar Swain, Spl. PP, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
