Keonjhar: Deprived of Govt benefits, an elderly widow Kanguli Chinda of Bansapal village under Telkoi Tehsil in Odisha’s Keonjhar district is living a pathetic life these days after being abandoned by her sons and daughters.
Husband of the old widow, Kartika Juanga died 12 years back. And now, after her offspring deserted the old lady, she is living under polythene roofed wretched hut in Bansapal.
However, this is not the end of the story for the poor lady. Due to government apathy, her name has been excluded from the ration card list. Not only this, but she is also deprived of old age pension as well as other government benefits.

Locals allege that due to negligence of the govt officials and the local Sarpanch , the lady is yet to take benefit of any welfare schemes from the State or Centre. And amid acute poverty, she spends the day sans food on most days . The helpless old widow is anxiously waiting for govt aid.
The widow has been applying for widow pension for the last 12 years. However, her application is yet to be added to the beneficiary list.
It is worth mentioning here that despite the availability of an ample number of Govt schemes and policies to help out such helpless women, Kanguli Chinda is yet to get any benefit from any of the schemes.
