Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested former Corporator of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Ranjita Biswal for her alleged links with gangster ‘D-Brothers’ Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamant.
Ranjita was arrested by a special squad of the Commissionerate Police. Two guns were also seized from her possession.
Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh informed that based on the information obtained during the interrogation of an arrested associate of D-brothers, the police raided Ranjita’s residence and arrested her after two guns were recovered from her house.
Notably, Ranjita was earlier arrested by the Commissionerate Police in March 2018 on charges of supplying illegal firearms to contract killers on instruction from gangster siblings Sushant and Sushil Dhalasamant.
In July 2018, the Orissa High Court had granted conditional bail to Ranjita against a bail bond of Rs 20,000 and two sureties.
